I wanted to use this to quickly introduce everyone to my page. Like many of you, I grew up with an addiction to college sports. The majority of those years were spent on the east coast where the Atlantic Coast Conference reigned supreme. I quickly fell in love with the rivalries of Tobacco Road; the football traditions such as Va Tech’s Enter Sandman, Florida State’s tomahawk chop, and Miami maybe being back; the classroom TV on a weekday in March to watch Tyrese Rice and Greivis Vasquez (RIP Maryland) battle it out. These were things that just got your blood boiling in more ways than one. These are also some of the reasons that, despite all the recent money chasing and realignment turmoil, the ACC has a rich history that millions of people love and should always have a place in college athletics.

I attended and graduated from a current ACC member school, although I won’t be disclosing where in order to keep you from screaming about my bias. I’ll let you try and figure it out based on my posts. I do have some prior writing experience, posting for my alma mater’s SB Nation affiliate for a few years. Life got too busy for a while to continue the hobby, but after a really challenging year both professionally and mentally, I’ve decided to pick back up the pen (or keyboard?) and do something I’m passionate about.

Full disclosure: I have some ACC bias. This page will have some ACC bias. I mean, I named it ACC Country for fucks sake. But I want to be clear from the jump that I am a fan of college sports as a whole and try to be as objective as possible. I can recognize that the SEC is a super-power conference in basketball this year. Oregon is the clear-cut best team in football. The Big 12 made some great additions the last few years that has spiced it up even with Texas/OU departing.

That’s not the point though. The point is I still live deep in the heart of ACC Country, and it feels like all I ever hear about nowadays is what the other conferences are doing. People need to know that SMU is actually a really good football team. Their hoops squad is sneaky good too! Are you familiar with Jaland Lowe’s game? What about Maxime Raynaud or Markus Burton or Ian Schieffelin? Is Duke the true best team in the country? These are the types of things this page will aim to highlight in a loose, fun and engaging way. We’ll dip into the national scene where necessary, and I love to bet on these games so I’ll include some of that content as well. *Nothing I say is financial advice

As I stated in my first X post (@AccCountry) a few months ago, I have no idea if this will gain any traction. In fact, I’d be shocked if it did. But I love to talk about sports, and this will give me the platform to do so even if I end up just talking to myself. So that’s what I’m going to do and I hope you’ll join me.
